In Kansas, all household goods, fuel, food and clothing reasonably necessary at an individuals’ principal residence for 1 year are fully exempt regardless of value. Additionally, an individual may exempt $1,000 in jewelry.
In Missouri, only $3,000 of household goods and furnishings, wearing apparel, appliances, books, animals, crops or musical instruments for personal, family or household use is exempt. Up to $500 of jewelry plus a wedding ring not exceeding $1,500 in value are exempt. Also, $600 in other property of any kind is exempt. Also, $1,600 in other property of any kind is exempt. Each head of family may exempt any other property worth up to $1,250 in aggregated value plus $350 additional per unmarried dependent child under age 18 or other dependent.
In Oklahoma, household and kitchen furniture held primarily for the personal, family or household use of a person or a dependant of the person is fully exempt regardless of value. Furniture is exempt only if it is used primarily in the household and only if it is also a necessity to the household. A person’s interest, not exceeding $4,000 in aggregate value, in wearing apparel held primarily for personal, family or household use of a person or a dependant of the person is fully exempt.
Additionally, a person’s interest, not exceeding $3,000 in aggregate value, in wedding and anniversary rings is fully exempt. All books, portraits and pictures held primarily for personal, family or household use of a person or a dependant of the person are fully exempt regardless of value. Each individual may exempt guns, not exceeding $2,000 in aggregate value that is held primarily for personal, family or household use of such person or a dependant of the person regardless of value.
In Texas, a family and a single person can exempt $60,000 and $30,000 of personal property, respectfully, consisting of household furnishings, provisions, trade implements, clothing, 2 firearms, athletic and sporting equipment, certain animals, certain vehicles, pets, life insurance and current wages for personal service.
